Re-translation update #12
over 4 years ago – Sat, Feb 01, 2020 at 11:32:32 PM

Hi Everyone!

We overshot our January estimate but QA for the retranslation of Hoshimemo will begin this Monday. We've uploaded the exact same QA build to Steam for backers who are itching to play the fixed version. You will find it under the "retranslation" branch. To access it, you'll need to right click on the game in your Steam client, choose properties, and then betas. Finally choose the retranslation branch and you will be able to play it. (Also any patches for content will not work with the retranslation at this time, we will update them once out of QA)

Please note, we overhauled our tools for this engine and due to the tool change there might be some bugs that slipped through. If you do find a bug please email [email protected] in case our own QA team did not find it.

And finally, the fandisc is now 40% translated.

We would like to thank our backers for being patient with us. We are working diligently in completing our obligations to the backers.

End of the year update
over 4 years ago – Tue, Dec 31, 2019 at 11:23:07 PM

Hello everyone,

We'd like to give a quick update before the new year starts.

The game is entering in QA in January. We originally were going to start QA earlier but the team was very backed up with other projects that were wrapping up at the end of the year.

We will be uploading the same build that QA will be testing in to a beta branch on Steam.

There will be another update in January about the progress of the fandisc so please look forward to that.

Re-translation update #11

Hello fellow stargazers,

First an apology in delays in posting this month's update. The project manager on Sekai's side has been sick since October 28th.

Now, the good news is that we have script insertion up and running again for Hoshizora no Memoria, so we can create new builds of the game as soon as they're ready to go. The bad news is that even with this hurdle out of the way, QA is now estimated to run into next year, so we won't be able to make this a 2019 release. You also might have noticed that Sekai Project put out a help wanted ad recently for more QA so that we can get more eyeballs on the game.

If there's enough interest from backers, we could release an early build just for our patient backers around Christmas time so that you all have something to hold you over until the final release. So we're asking for feedback about whether you guys would be interested in early builds, or whether the backers are planning to wait for the full release anyway. If there's less interest in early builds of the original game, then it may also be possible to release early builds of the fandisk in the coming months.

Speaking of which, Eternal Heart's translation is also progressing smoothly. The current ETA for 100% translation is the end of the year, so QA will begin on the fandisk shortly after we finish QA on the original game. That should place the release of Eternal Heart with a optimistic estimate of March of next year, with physical goods following as soon as possible after the fandisk is finalized.

So in short, it's coming!

Also, lastly Sekai Project is running a Kickstarter campaign for Rewrite+ and it's ending in 3 days but it is still not fully funded.

Re-translation update #10
over 4 years ago – Fri, Oct 18, 2019 at 12:41:15 AM

Hello fellow stargazers,

So basically, there's been a bit of tumult here on the project lately. Long story short, we're bringing in a new hacker to get things moving along. I can't name names, but trust me when I say that this will be a more fruitful staffing arrangement.

With that said, the re-translation patch is still stalled until the technical work is done. Yes, I know it sucks, but that's why we're bringing in someone new to make sure things get done. The way I look at it, it is very important that we get things right this time since this is supposed to be the patch that fixes problems rather than creating new problems.

So basically, there's no way to speed this up if we want to do it properly. We can't just slap together a build and release the updated scripts that we have. Once scripts are inserted, we still need to do a quality control pass where we read through the entire game in-engine. There's only so much proofreading that can be done by working on raw text files, because certain issues will present themselves in game which were not obvious when working with text files alone. So until we have a new working build of the game with updated scripts, we will instead be focused on making progress on the fan disk translation.

Anyway, I understand if you guys are frustrated because of the delays. Trust me, we're a bit frustrated too. The important thing is that we're taking appropriate steps to remedy the problems we've run into with the project in the past few months.

P.S. Refunds are still accepted. Any digital copies cannot be refunded however.

P.P.S. Rewrite+ Kickstarter launched today, feel free to check it out. Also Studio Élan is running a Kickstarter to get voices added to their latest visual novel Heart of the Woods.

Re-translation update #9

Hello fellow stargazers,

When it comes to the patch for the main Hoshizora no Memoria game, let's just say that no news is good news. We're still waiting on the completion of technical work before we can release the re-translation patch.

Translation of Eternal Heart is also underway. The progress so far has been good, but we've ended up discarding a large portion of the previously translated scripts which were completed by another translator because each line of the old translation had to be individually translation checked regardless. This isn't as much of a setback as it sounds like, since the inherited translation still needed a lot of work before it would have been ready for release. The goal is still to complete the translation of the fan disk by the end of 2019.
